What is an SDS?
The Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) or MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet) is the “identity card” of a substance or mixture.
It is a regulatory obligation in accordance with article 31 of REACH. The format of the SDS is given by Annex II of REACH, modified by Regulation 830/2015 / EC since June 1, 2015.
The SDS produced according to the format of regulation 453/2010 / EC are to be updated. This concerns SDSs written before June 2015
Field of application of SDS
The SDS is required for chemical substances and mixtures and intentionally released articles that meet at least one of the following conditions:
The substance or mixture is classified as dangerous according to CLP regulation (1272/2008 / EC)
Presence of at least one substance classified as dangerous for human health or the environment according to the CLP regulation and / or
Presence of at least one substance classified as PBT or vPvB, and / or
Presence of at least one substance included in the SVHC list
Presence of at least one substance with an occupational exposure limit value
These requirements are formulated under conditions of concentration of said substances.
